Essential Medicines Position Statement PDF document

The University of Edinburgh recognises that improving health and access to medicines are among the most pressing needs and continues to pioneer world-class research into the often preventable diseases that take millions of lives every year. To ensure the fruits of its research are accessible to those in greatest need, the University has published an Essential Medicines policy when licensing its technology for commercial purposes. Exploitation Efficiency Report 2009-10 PDF document new!

The annual Exploitation Efficiency Report by the University of Edinburgh makes a comparison of the exploitation efficiency of Scotland's universities against US universities in 2009-10. This year's report reveals that the top Scottish universities generate more invention disclosures, file more patents, negotiate licence agreements and create more new spinout companies for every dollar of investment compared to similar universities in the USA. It should be noted that this strong performance by Scottish universities is not a recent phenomenon, but continues back to 1995/96 when such data was first compiled. [Published April 2012]
